Frontkick ("we", "our", or "us") operates as a Shopify app that provides an AI-powered chat assistant for Shopify merchants and their customers. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
1. Data We Collect
From merchants (Shopify store owners):
Shopify shop domain and store name
Merchant email address (provided by Shopify OAuth)
Product catalog data (titles, descriptions, prices, variants) — read from your store to power the AI assistant
App settings and assistant configuration you enter within the app
Anonymous chat conversations initiated by your store visitors
From store visitors (end customers):
Chat messages sent through the Frontkick widget
Anonymous session identifiers (no name, email, or personal details are collected)
Page context (product or collection being viewed) to improve answer relevance
2. How We Use Data
To operate and improve the AI chat assistant
To sync and index your product catalog for AI responses
To display analytics about assistant usage within the app
To comply with Shopify's platform requirements
3. Data Storage
Data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted on Railway (railway.app). We do not sell or share your data with third parties except as required to operate the service (e.g., the Google Gemini AI API processes messages to generate responses).
4. Data Retention & Deletion
When you uninstall Frontkick from your Shopify store, all merchant and conversation data is permanently deleted within 48 hours. You may also contact us to request immediate deletion.
5. GDPR Compliance
Frontkick implements all required Shopify GDPR webhooks:
customers/data_request: We hold no customer PII and return an empty response.
customers/redact: We hold no customer PII; acknowledged automatically.
shop/redact: All shop data is permanently deleted within 48 hours of uninstall.
6. Third-Party Services
Google Gemini API — processes chat messages to generate AI responses
Railway — cloud hosting and database
Shopify — platform infrastructure and OAuth authentication
